out of focus

in case of wondering…

i am trying to organize all of my older photographs – the ones i have been taking since getting out of school, so that i can organize my thoughts and perhaps finish a series or at least find out what i really want to take pictures of.

my favorite pictures to look at and to take are the ones that look more like paintings, because they are slightly out of focus or some other trick.  desiree asked me if i had ever used a holga or diana, i have, but as much as i like how other peoples pictures end up, i never like how my holga’s ended.  i like pinhole better, or breathing on the lens or putting some sort of distortion something in front of the lens.  these are some out of focus pics that i like.

also, as part of this organization process, i can’t find the cord to my scanner, so i am missing a lot of pictures, they are sitting here next to me, but you cannot see them.  so sad.

photography

i studied photography once and i have been pretending to make an effort to take more pictures.  but I always find excuses. Today I made a pinhole for a digital camera i borrowed from work, and went out and shot a little. Well I shot a lot, but only one or two came out any good at all.

So I took off the pinhole, put back on the lens and blew hot air on the lens instead, i like how they turned out.

Then I went to the velodrome and shot the bikers, regular-like – no fogged lens, no pinhole, just f-stops and shutter speeds.  The light is always really nice and the bikers make good shadows.

The people at the beach picture reminded me of this thing I saw on “today and tomorrow”

soph said it was an animated gif, that it was easy and she knew how to do it, so I put together a little bike race experience for you all…

That was my day… I guess it was productive.  I did post my first real blog entry!  Yay!
